Introduction

1. Background

In August, 2008, Jinwen University of Science and Technology (JUST) received the accreditation to establish the Graduate Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (GITHM). JUST has always been featured by its College of Tourism & Hospitality, and earned the reputations that in this field, JUST and National Kaohsiung Hospitality College are the leaders in the Northern and Southern Taiwan respectively. Now GITHM integrated staff of College of Tourism & Hospitality, which includes Department of Leisure and Recreation Management, Department of Travel Management, Department of Hotel Management, and Food & Beverage Management Department.

In 2006, JUST appropriated NTD 280 million to construct the Hospitality Management Building, offering the state-of-the-art equipment and hardware. In addition, more than 58% of the staff of the College of Tourism & Hospitality are professors, associate professors, and assistant professors. In recent years, this college has made great progress in applying for liaison programs and programs of National Science Council, and the number of TSSCI and SSCI articles it published also increased. As a result, GITHM is established to further the studies related to tourism and hospitality.

2. Main Focuses of GITHM

（1）To advance the theory and trend of tourism and hospitality

（2）To develop organization, operation, and management strategies for the tourism and hospitality industry

（3）To devote to industry analysis and resource investigation for the tourism and hospitality sector

（4）To provide professional services in government/industry/ university liaison research programs, industry/university collaboration projects, and related case studies

（2）Private Sector: Positions (e.g. consultants) in industries related to tourism and hospitality.
